The Manatee Hurricanes blew into Newsome, sweeping the Newsome Wolves in straight sets Wednesday night.
After a slow start, the defending 8A State Champions got down to business, winning 25-20, 25-16, 25-14.
BHSN player of the game was Newsome right side hitter Tori Omoregie. Despites the loss, Omoregie played her heart out, her 12 kills led both teams.
The Hurricanes were led to victory by big hitters Jacqui Armer who finished the night with 10 kills and sisters Haley and JoJo who ahd 8 kills apiece.
The Hurricanes will rest up and get ready for perennial power Venice on October 13.
