William Tate's near-flawless performance led the #9 Winter Haven Blue Devils to a dominant victory over rival Lake Wales on the Game of the Week, taking down the Highlanders 48-0 at Legion Field.

Tate finished 14-for-17 for 291 yards and four TD passes, as Winter Haven beat Lake Wales for the seventh straight season. His top target all season has been sophomore Terance Anglin, and it continued this week, as Anglin finished with seven receptions for 195 yards and two TD.

Second-half TD passes to Chayce Armbruster and Derrick Wiggins extended the Blue Devils' lead into the running-clock margin. Rushing touchdowns were scored by Tekendrick Roberson, Javeon Marlow and Jerome Arius.

Winter Haven's defense recorded their third shutout of the season and forced four Lake Wales turnovers. Star recruit Xavier Gaines (ranked the 12th-best dual-threat QB in the nation) did break a 62-yd run in the first half, but it was one of the only highlights for the Highlanders. They were held to 171 total yards.

The Blue Devils (5-2) bounced back impressively after a district loss last week to Kathleen, and will look to keep the momentum leading into a huge district showdown at #10 Lakeland. Meanwhile Lake Wales (2-3) still controls their own playoff destiny, with three district games left, starting with a trip to Lake Region next week.
