Evan Fournier scored 26 points and hit a 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds left in overtime to lift the Orlando Magic to a 104-101 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.

Elfrid Payton scored 24 points and had six assists for the Magic. Tobias Harris finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Andrew Wiggins led the Wolves with 28 points. Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 points and 12 rebounds. Zach LaVine had 14 points and Kevin Martin 12.

Towns made two free throws with 40.6 seconds left in overtime to tie it 101-101.

Payton missed a jumper with 22 seconds left, but Jason Smith tied up LaVine on the rebound and won the jump ball to give the Magic a final possession.

The Timberwolves had Fournier trapped behind the 3-point line, but he split the defenders and drilled the winner.

Minnesota forced overtime when Wiggins banked in a driving layup with 2.1 seconds left to make it 93-93. Towns then blocked a layup by Harris at the buzzer.

The Magic went on a 13-1 run in the middle of the fourth quarter to seize control. Backup forward Andrew Nicholson, who hadn't scored yet this season, finished the run with a putback dunk and followed that with a 3-pointer that gave Orlando an 89-82 lead with 4:11 left.

Minnesota cut the deficit to 93-91 when Wiggins made one free throw with 28 seconds to play, then tied the game with his driving layup.

Orlando struggled throughout the first half but was a different team in the second half. The Magic shot just 32.1 percent in the first half but then benched starters Nik Vucevic and Victor Oladipo after halftime. Orlando hit 10 of its first 14 attempts from the field in the third quarter.

That helped Orlando run off 15 straight points and erase all of the 52-38 deficit the team faced at halftime. The last eight points in the run came off steals that turned into fast-break points and gave Orlando a 65-64 lead.

Minnesota opened the door for a Magic rally by hitting just four of its first 12 shots in the second half while committing seven turnovers. The Timberwolves finally righted the ship in the final 2 minutes of the quarter, getting 3-pointers from LaVine and Martin to outscore Orlando 12-6 and take a 76-71 lead into the final period.
