It didn’t take long for Morgan Tankersley to establish herself as an All-American. The Plant sophomore swimmer did it in one minute, 47.54 seconds. That’s how fast Tankersley swam to win a gold medal in the 200 yard freestyle.

“Last year I got two second places, and in the relay earlier, we had gotten second, so I just wanted that first place really badly," Tankersley said. "I just felt good. It was my best time by two seconds, so it was a surprising drop. It was very exciting.”

Tankersley wasn’t done with the gold. She also won a silver in the 500 free and helped the Panthers to a second place in the 200 free relay and third place in the 200 medley relay.

“Oh it was very exciting," she said. "It's always like the thrill kind of the excitement. It's great.”

That’s a lot of bling for one swimmer and Tankersley hopes her medal haul propels her to the next level.

"I'm going to Olympic trials in June so that's really exciting, so that's the next thing," Tankersley said. "I just like competition and racing. It just makes me excited.”
