The game of golf provides Greyson Porter with a unique opportunity. Every time he sets foot on a course, he’s presented with a different experience.

“Nothing is the same no matter what round you play," Porter said. "Every single shot, no matter what you do, it's always going to be different. That's just the cool part about it, nothing is the same."

Porter’s season didn’t start off the greatest. But it sure ended that way. The Shorecrest Prep senior peaked at the right time to claim second place at the Class 1A state tournament.

“Before the season started I really wasn't playing my best golf," Porter said. "And then when the season started, I guess something clicked. I started to play really good and then I guess it just kind of held up throughout the season.”

Porter and the rest of the field had to wait out a rain delay at the Mission Hills Inn and Resort in Howie in the Hills. But once his final round started, he knew it would be special. Porter birdied four of the last five holes.

“That was when I really soaked in my last high school golf round," he said. "I said, all right, I'm gonna leave it all out there on the line. I think I did a good job of doing that. A 69, I can't complain with that.”

Next up is Florida State University, where Porter has committed to play collegiate golf. And then, who knows?

“When I was about 13 or 14 beginning of high school, I started playing some more national tournaments and bigger tournaments and started to compete regularly," Porter said. "I just felt like that was probably when I realized that maybe I can go to college or something, Hopefully turn professional one day, which obviously is the goal.”
