The East Lake girls swim team made history last fall as the first Tampa Bay area team to win a state title in 30 years.

They looked forward to celebrating the historical feat with championship rings. That's where they need help.

Eagles swimmers are scrambling to raise money for their rings. The company that will design them has given the girls a small window of time to raise the funds.

Seeking $3,600 to cover the cost, the swim team has set up a GoFundMe account.

Last November, East Lake dominated the Girls 4A State Swimming Championships. They set an early tone, winning the first event, the 200 medley relay for the second-straight year. They made it a clean sweep, also claiming the 200 free and 400 free relays.

Individually, Sydney Pickrem and Lexy Aitchison each won two gold medals. Pickrem claimed the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke, while Aitchison won the 200 freestyle and 500 free.
