After notching a 2-1 series win over No. 18 Ole Miss, UCF jumped in the polls to No. 9 and senior outfielder JoMarcos Woods was recognized as The American Player of the Week. The Orlando, Fla., native was the catalyst in the Knights' 5-4 win over the Rebels on Feb. 27, notching the walk-off single.

The Knights have opened the season with three-consecutive league hitter of the week awards, marking the first time that has occurred in program history. Senior infielder Dylan Moore opened the season with the acknowledgement on Feb. 16 before freshman infielder Kyle Marsh led the Knights in the South Alabama Tournament (Feb. 23).

Woods posted a .417 batting average, a .500 on-base pct., and a .583 slugging pct., during the week. He drove in four runs, including a career-best three against Bethune-Cookman (2/25).
UCF (10-1) registered its best start in school history as Woods delivered the game-winning single to left, scoring sophomore pinch runner Kam Gellinger in a 5-4 come-from-behind victory on Feb. 27. Woods was mobbed by his teammates between first and second after the base knock.

With the Knights down 4-2 in the eighth of the same game, the left-handed hitter started off the frame with a double down the right field line. He came around to score on a double to left by senior second baseman Dylan Moore, who eventually crossed the plate for the game-tying marker.

The left fielder started off the week with a pair of hits, including a double, and added three RBI against Bethune-Cookman (2/25).
He was intentionally walked in his final at-bat of the weekend to load the bases, where the Knights scored the game-tying run against Ole Miss in the second game of the Sunday doubleheader.

Tuesday's meeting with the second-ranked Gators presented by Florida Hospital will be UCF's sixth game of the season against a ranked opponent. A capacity crowd is expected for the 6:30 p.m. start and fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance - online or by calling 407-823-1000.

The teams complete a home-and-home series on Wednesday in Gainesville at 7 p.m. The Knights will host Columbia beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. The Lions are coming off a four-game series split at No. 3 Houston.
