Here is this week's BHSN Bay-area Top 10 baseball poll. Last week's ranking in parenthesis.

1. (7) Bishop McLaughlin (13-2) - The Hurricanes have only two losses this year, and both have come in extra innings. Jeff Swymer's group has allowed just 25 runs all year, and they've won eight straight, including a shutout of Hernando and an impressive win over Wesley Chapel.

2. (4) Haines City (12-2) - Jenkins handed Haines City its first loss in district play, but the Hornets are still proving they're the best team in Polk County.

3. (1) Northeast (14-2) - Countryside ruined the Vikings quest for perfection with a no-hitter last week. Three days later, Clearwater got the them, too. Two tough district losses, but Northeast is still leading the pack in 7A-9.

4. (NR) Calvary Christian (11-2) - Better late than never. I've overlooked the Warriors for way too long, and they just keep winning. Their last loss came to nationally-ranked Venice in February. Jake Rothwell is hitting .421, while four others are over .300. They're great on the bags, swiping 45 of 47 bases. Oh, and one of the best pitchers in Pinellas is Johnnie Schneider, who is 7-0 with a 0.60 ERA and has given up just seven hits in 17.2 IP.

5. (2) Alonso (13-3) - The Ravens had won 10 in a row before back-to-back losses against Steinbrenner and Riverview. The Ravens gave up 14 runs combined in those two games, more than they've given up in the entire month of March.

6. (6) Dunedin (12-2) - Quality wins over PHU and Tarpon are on the Falcons resume this week.

7. (3) Winter Haven (11-3) - Richmond Anspaugh has been money this year for Lake Gibson and he allowed just two unearned runs against the Blue Devils last week, handing them a tough district loss.

8. (8) Brandon (12-2) - The Eagles only loss in March came in extras to Leto, an up-and-coming team. Durant will be a big test.

9. (5) Durant (11-4) - Losses seem to be a common theme among the top teams in this poll. Durant got tripped up by B-Dale, but recovered with a shutout win over TBT. They play Brandon next, which should be a great game.

10. (NR) Lake Wales (11-4) - In a seven-team district, the Highlanders are 9-1, with their only loss to Winter Haven. They've won five straight since, including beating Oklahoma's Owasso.

On the bubble: Hillsborough (11-4), Palm Harbor University (12-4), River Ridge (9-3), Indian Rocks Christian (12-3), Hernando (11-5), Keswick Christian (12-3), Riverview (12-3), Jefferson (10-4), Santa Fe Catholic (13-5), Wesley Chapel (13-5), Lakeland (10-6), Lakewood Ranch (10-4), Jesuit (11-6), Bartow (12-3), East Lake (11-4), Springstead (10-5), Plant (9-7), Bloomingdale (8-6), Counryside (9-5), Tampa Prep (8-5)
