Here is this week's BHSN Bay-area Top 10 baseball poll. Last week's ranking in parenthesis.

1. (6) Dunedin (12-2) - The Falcons are flying high, winners of eight in a row. Trevor Jensen (.490) is on fire at the plate, with 14 hits and eight RBI during the streak. Their pitching, as usual, has been exceptional, with a total team ERA of 1.43.

2. (2) Haines City (15-2) - A huge 6-1 win over Lakeland kept the Hornets in the top spot in the district.

3. (1) Bishop McLaughlin (13-3) - After winning eight in a row and taking the top spot, the 'Canes dropped their first non-extra innings ball game of the year to Seffner Christian.

4. (4) Calvary Christian (13-2) - The shutout streak is up to five-straight games for the Warriros, and they've allowed just four runs over their last nine games, all wins. Unfortunately, only four of those nine teams are over .500. The biggest win came over Indian Rocks Christian, 9-1, keeping a hold on the district's top spot.

5. (8) Brandon (13-3) - I'm still high on the Eagles, despite a 1-0 loss to Durant. They've still won 9 of 11 and have five hitters with .300 or better averages. Antonio Velez is money on the mound, with a 0.45 ERA and 7 wins in 10 appearances.

6. (7) Winter Haven (15-3) - The Blue Devils, to me, are still one of the most talented teams in the area. They can hit (.375 team BA) and pitch (1.88 team ERA) and they've faced a challenging schedule. Two of their three losses have come to district opponents. The Blue Devil Classic this week is always a good test, while Lake Wales and Haines City rematches await.

7. (3) Northeast (15-3) - The Vikings have lost three of four, mainly because the bats have been held in check. East Lake (12-4) is just one game back of them in the win column in the district standings.

8. (5) Alonso (14-5) - Four losses in five games following a Saladino Championship for the Ravens, but they've come against some really tough competition in Steinbrenner, Riverview, Wharton and Robinson. Still, I wouldn't want to face this team in the postseason.

9. (10) Lake Wales (15-4) - The only loss for the Highlanders in the last month has come against Winter Haven, but their last four wins have come against poor clubs. Upcoming games against Bartow and Winter Haven will be tellling.

10. (NR) East Lake (12-4) - The Eagles avenged their loss to Northeast earlier this month by beating the Vikings 2-1 in nine innings. They've also gotten quality wins over PHU and Countryside. There's enough talent here to make some noise in the postseason.

On the bubble: Riverview (13-5), Jesuit (12-7), Hillsborough (12-4), Durant (13-5), Palm Harbor University (12-5), River Ridge (11-3), Indian Rocks Christian (13-3), Hernando (11-5), Keswick Christian (12-3), Jefferson (12-4), Santa Fe Catholic (13-5), Wesley Chapel (13-5), Bartow (12-6), Plant (11-6), Lakewood Ranch (10-8)
