Lindsey White and the Tarpon Springs Spongers made history at Tom Varn Park in Brooksville, recording their first-ever playoff win with a 4-2 win over Hernando.  White got out of jams in the bottom of the first and third, and turned in her sixth double-digit strikeout game of the season, mowing down 11 Leopards and allowing just one earned run.

The game was scoreless through three innings, until freshman Jenna Woznar led off the top of the 4th and came around to score on a fielder's choice.  Julie Allen's sacrifice fly later in the inning gave the Spongers a 3-0 lead.  Sophomore Emily Merino's RBI single gave Tarpon Springs an insurance run in the top of the 6th.

Speedster Megan Lane was a terror on the basepaths as normal, stealing four bases (her 84th, 85th, 86th and 87th of the season), reaching base in all four of her plate appearances and scoring Hernando's first run of the game.  Her illustrious Leopards career comes to a close, but the Mercer signee finishes as Hernando County's all-time leader in runs, hits, triples and stolen bases.

The Spongers memorable season continues, as they are making just the third playoff appearance in school history and the first since 2004.  They will look to add another playoff win next week in the Region Semifinals vs. River Ridge.
