Tampa Bay Storm cornerback James Harrell, needed a few takes when trying to tape a promo for Bright House Sports Network.

He laughed off the mistakes and played to the camera like a seasoned professional.

"This is James Harrell of your Tampa Bay Storm and you’re watching Bright House Sports Network," said Harrell.

He knew it was good and quipped "You like that?"

The Plant alum is the Tampa Bay Storm’s Mr. Personality.

“I’m just real passionate,” said Harrell.

“Probably one of the characters on the team,” said Storm head coach Lawrence Samuels.

“I do a touchdown dance, but I ain’t got too much rhythm, ya know?” said Harrell.

“You look at the secondary and he is the one creating all those dances in there,” said Samuels.

The third-year cornerback may be their resident “funny man”, but his stats are no joke.

He leads the Storm defensive unit with four interceptions, good for fourth league wide. He is third on the team in solo tackles and in early May, swept the AFL (Arena Football League) weekly awards including Defensive Player and MVP of the Week.

“I like the football,” said Harrell. “So, wherever the football is at, I am going to the football whether it’s a fumble or interception or a net ball. My eyes just get real big.”

“He’s made big plays for us in the past and he’s actually playing big for us this year,” said Samuels. “He’s always around the ball.”

His dad, James, is his role model. The former Jesuit head coach and current Plant defensive coordinator set the Harrell family standard high.

“We all try to be like my dad,” said Harrell. “He played ten years in the league (NFL) with the Chiefs and the Lions. Ya know, we all just trying to chase a dream. It means a lot to the Harrell family. I just want to play ball and do well.”

When asked if the NFL is still the ultimate goal Harrell said "Yup, if it happens, but right now…Storm…. Go Storm, Baby!”
