It was a media onslaught at Bucs rookie minicamp.

All eyes on number 3 in the creamsickle jersey, one Jameis Winston. I haven’t seen that much media at a Bucs practice, since, I don’t know when. Maybe the season the Bucs won the Super Bowl?

It’s hard to get a read on how Winston looked. He does look the part, big strong and confident. But in shorts and helmets, Winston was practicing with a bunch of guys that may be driving a beer truck next week.

“I’m just like a six-year-old kid,” said Winston after practice. "It’s the first day of football.”

Winston could be seen slapping a couple of players on the butt, introducing himself. He says the field is his sanctuary. No doubt he looks like a leader.

There’s video of him giving bro hugs and shaking hands to each one of his rookie camp teammates upon arrival at One Buc on Thursday night. Bucs head coach Lovie Smith noticed that.

“He’s a positive guy," said Smith. “No one told him to greet his teammates."

“I grew up wanting to be a pro football quarterback and I’m here today and I don’t plan on stopping,” said Winston.

The only thing stopping you, Jameis, is dumb off-field stuff.

Based on what I witnessed at One Buc, he’s going to be under the microscope 24/7.

Hope he makes it. I’m talking off the field.

He’s off to a good start.
