Kyle Brindza's day started well on Sunday, nailing a 58-yard field goal to put the Bucs on the board with the second-longest field goal in Tampa Bay history.

Much like Seinfeld's George Costanza learned, Brindza should've ended his day on a high note.

Instead, what followed was an extra point attempt that hit the post and ricocheted backwards, and then three missed field goals in the 19-9 loss to the Texans in Houston.

Despite the rough outing, head coach Lovie Smith gave his endorsement of the rookie out of Notre Dame on Monday.

"Kyle is our kicker," Smith said. "He’s a good kicker that had an off day yesterday. Good players can have a bad day."

Brindza was acquired during training camp from Detroit, in exchange for tight end Tim Wright. Brindza won the job after the final preseason game, outlasting Connor Barth.
