A 36-yd FG by Nickolas Null with :20 left in the game gave Manatee their seventh straight win over Palmetto, as the Hurricanes escaped from Harllee Stadium with a 36-35 victory despite turning the ball over six times.

The Tigers were looking for their first win over their county rival since 2004, and had the momentum for much of the night behind a boisterous home crowd.  Senior QB Jack Allison (Miami commit) threw two first-half TDs, a 15-yarder to Octavious James (who played for Manatee last year) and a 16-yarder to David Belvin, and the Tigers led 14-10 at the half, with Manatee's TD coming on a 99-yd kickoff return from Kavious' Price.

The teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter, as Manatee's Lorenz Allen scampered for TD runs of 69 yards and 24 yards.  For Palmetto, it was Azavion Smith who broke a screen pass for an 80-yd TD, while a 1-yd QB sneak from Allison gave the Tigers a 28-24 lead through three quarters.

After an interception by defensive lineman Tony Collins, Manatee drove inside the Palmetto 5-yd line, until a fumble recovery by the Tigers ended their drive.  But with Palmetto at their own 1-yd line, the Manatee defensive front swarmed into the backfield to force a safety, bringing the Hurricanes within two, 28-26.

Allison's 3rd TD pass of the night gave Palmetto a 35-26 lead, as he again found Smith, this time for a 27-yd TD.  Allison finished with 164 passing yards, with 110 of the yards going to Smith.  Isyah Funk contributed 78 second-half rushing yards, after carrying just once in the first half for a loss of two yards.

The big play capability of Price struck once again in the fourth quarter, as he took a short pass 58 yards to the end zone to bring Manatee within two.  A.J. Colagiovanni finished the night 18-of-28 for 282 yards and led the Hurricanes on a 50-yard drive that started with just over one minute left to set up Null's game-winning kick.

Palmetto looks to bounce back against another county rival, Southeast, next week on the road.  Manatee hosts traditional power Tallahassee Lincoln at Hawkins Stadium.
