The Bucs don't have a lot of big talkers on defense.

But they were running their mouths in a suffocating win over Chicago.

"Our communication was leaps and bounds better than what it has been in the previous games," defensive coordinator Mike Smith said, "so we're starting to see some progress in that area."

The stats vs. Chicago spoke volumes of the defense's improved effort - four takeaways, four sacks, basically making the Bears offense miserable.

"You could see it was all over the field," defensive tackle Gerald McCoy said. "It wasn't just one person. And that's why y'all have heard me say numerous times, there's plays out there for everybody.

"And when we're on the same page, you've seen what can happen on Sunday."

Kansas City presents a different challenge. The Chiefs don't turn the ball over often, just eight times in nine games.

"It's going to be important for us to attack the ball," Smith said. "Their track record says it's going to be tough to get the turnover production that we've had over the last four weeks."

Understanding the new scheme has been a much steeper learning curve than Bucs coaches anticipated. But getting some injured players back and younger guys on the same page is resulting in a lot of big talk.

"We've showed some resiliency when things haven't gone our way, but we've come back," Smith said.  "But we still have a long way to go.

"This is a group of guys that works extremely hard and they're up for the challenge each week."
