Lake Worth Trinity Christian put on a hit show to produce the school's first baseball championship.

The Warriors scored 12 runs off 20 hits in their 12-1 win over Christ's Church Academy to claim the Class 2A title.

Trinity Christian produced seven hits off its first nine at bats, but that only resulted in one run. Bad base running led to a double tag out, preventing more runs.

Christ's Church took advantage of their scoring opportunities. After loading the bases, the Eagles tied the game at 1-all in the bottom of the second when a passed ball resulted in a run.

The Warriors broke up that tie in the top of the fourth with a five-run inning. Three of those runs were scored with two outs.

Trinity Christian scored six runs in the fifth inning, including four runs with two outs, to end the game due to the mercy rule.

In the 1A Championship Game, Lafayette didn't need as many hits to capture its first championship.

Lafayette defeated Chiefland, 2-0, for the school's first baseball title. Chiefland was trying to sweep the 1A softball and baseball titles after the Indians won a state softball title last week.

FHSAA State Baseball Championships continue Friday with Class 3A and 4A semifinal action. The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers take on Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian at 1 p.m. in Class 4A and Santa Fe Catholic will face John Carroll in Class 3A at 7 p.m.
