Kyle Norstrem nabbed his fifth state title last winter and helped Brandon High School win their 27th title in the process.  Norstrem wrapped his stellar career with an astounding 287-3 record.

The five-time state champion will touch down at Virginia Tech in a few days to embark on summer school and his college wrestling career. But, Norstrem remains grateful for what Brandon Coach Russ Cozart gave him and says “I love giving back to the kids.  I love coming back and just teaching them.  Even if they don’t wrestle longer in life, it just teaches them life lessons.  And, I love to be involved with them and like helping them grow”.

Brandon High School Assistant Coach Joe Cozart said he “appreciates the impact Norstrem's natural talent and ability to lead has had on the Eagles program and the camp.  Awesome for me and Anthony, guys that were captain on the team.  To really come back and see him take that leadership role.  He’s just been real impactful on the team.  He has no problem taking leadership roles and being a role model for the other guys on the team”.

Getting to a fifth state title wasn't easy for Norstrem. But he battled through injury and talked about the lessons he's learned and is now sharing with aspiring wrestlers:  “Just stay committed, stay strong.  It’s tough.  For instance, I stayed in practice every day I was hurt.  I sat on the sidelines and I watched.  I stayed committed to the team and I helped when I could.  It’s not all about you, it’s about your team”.
