Steinbrenner High School Senior Pitcher / 2B CJ Van Eyk was simply unstoppable on the mound and at the plate during the Warriors’ first ever championship season.  In fact, Van Eyk only dropped one game all season.

2016 has been a banner year for Van Eyk.  And, recently IT got even better. Van Eyk was humbled when he was selected to the 40-man roster for USA Baseball 18U trials and says “It’s definitely an honor to represent the country.  Above anything, that would be the greatest team I’ve ever played for (if selected for the final roster)”.

Van Eyk heads to Houston in September for the trials.  After pitching a complete game in the 8A state semifinals and a dominant performance on offense and defense in the finals, Warriors coach John Crumbley says of Van Eyk, “He’s a tremendous high school athlete.  He’s able to help us and help his teammates.  I think he realizes and most other people realize that his arm is special”.

Van Eyk is also participating in various summer leagues to prepare for the 18U trials.  If he is selected for the national team, he will earn a spot to play in the COPABE Pan Am “AAA” Championships that will be held September 23-October 2 in Monterrey, Mexico.
