The Under Armour Kickoff classic turned out to be just that- a classic battle between Manatee and Armwood.  It started off shaky for wide receiver/quarterback Tarique Milton and the Hurricanes; however Milton shook off the start because of his confidence.

“When there were eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, I told the team we can come back.  All we have to do is play as a team.  Knowing that we can play at a high caliber, we should be able to carry out that level of play throughout the season”.

The Hurricanes went on to beat the Hawks, 28-19.  Manatee head coach John Booth said Milton's versatility and desire to succeed at the collegiate level has helped Milton and contributed to the team's success overall.

“We asked Tarique if he’d be able to make the switch from receiver to quarterback and it was no problem.  He was happy to do whatever he could for the team.  As for playing college football, Tarique realizes that it’s a realistic option for him.  He had some work to do academically to make that dream become a reality, and he’s taken a much more mature approach to it.”

Coach Booth also said what makes Milton special is the hard work Milton puts in throughout the week to improve his individual game, but Milton said his number one focus is still the team.
