Once again STUFF the Orlando Magic Mascot has burst onto the scene being named the 2016 NBA Mascot of the Year by his peers, this time in recognition of his high-flying feats and acting prowess. STUFF’s complete arsenal was on full display this season with highlights including a death-defying back flip off a ladder through an inflatable hoop, an Academy Award-like performance in his trampoline symphony skit, his unique “What STUFF Does” video and the “coup de grace,” assisting Magic forward Aaron Gordon in his perfectly executed, jaw-dropping slam dunks at 2016 NBA All-Star Slam Dunk competition. The award was voted on by NBA mascots at the 20th annual NBA Mascot Conference.

The NBA Mascot Awards debuted in 2005 at the conference. The conference provides an opportunity for NBA mascots to continue to innovate and share ideas on game day skits, the newest props and outfits. Since the award debuted, 11 mascots have been selected as the NBA Mascot of the Year. This is STUFF’s first year winning the honor.

Entering his 28th season, STUFF is one of the most recognizable mascots in professional sports. STUFF prides himself as the Orlando Magic’s number one fan, and he relishes his role as the team “funny guy.” Whether seen rolling down the stairs, performing a comedic dance routine with the Magic Dancers, shooting his patented backwards half-court shot, or perhaps throwing a cake in the face of an unsuspecting fan from another team, STUFF seldom seems to slow down. Although unpredictable at times, his comedic timing and impromptu style is guaranteed to bring a smile to the faces of fans both young and old.
