There's a sense of urgency in the Lightning dressing room as the Bolts pack their bags for their longest road trip of the season.

With several teams to leapfrog in the standings to make the playoffs, the Lightning players know the next two weeks could be critical in setting the tone for the second half of the season.

“It’s a hard road trip for us, where we are in the standings right now,” Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin said.  “So this is a big road trip for us.  We need points.  And there are good teams in the West.”

The six-game swing away from Amalie Arena begins with four games in six days this week against Western Conference teams, including three against teams that would be in the postseason if it started today.

It's a daunting task, but it's one the Lightning need to strike with an aggressive mindset.

“We should be greedy,” Lightning center Brian Boyle said.  “We should try to win every single game and expect to win every single game and come back here with kind of a different tone.  A little bit of strut in our step.”

Having goalie Ben Bishop healthy and in the lineup gets you back in first class.

Having a roster full of frequent flyer veterans who've seen everything over the past two-and-a-half years gives the Bolts a major upgrade in bonus mileage.

“We need to change our attitude a little bit and kind of find our mojo a little bit,” Boyle said.  “Carry ourselves with a little bit more confidence.  Know that we can score quick goals, we can come from behind, and we can jump out to leads and bury teams.”

With their next home game two full weeks away (against Boston on January 31), a big cup of that "mojo" could help the Bolts rest much easier for the flight back to Tampa.
