A lot has changed since former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Mike Alstott, Derrick Brooks, and Dave Moore went through their own college recruiting process.

As Alstott says himself, "there was still a phone attached to the wall in those days."

Alstott, Brooks, and Moore have now survived the process as parents as well.

Their sons, Griffin Alstott, Decalon Brooks, and Jake Moore will all sign with Division One colleges on Wednesday.

After all growing up watching their dads play football at Raymond James Stadium, it's their chance to shine in the spotlight.

And it's fitting that they'll make their college choice official on the same exact day.

"We were all around the same thing with the Bucs growing up," Griffin Alstott said.  "And for everyone’s dream to come true like this, it’s awesome."

The trio's famous fathers all say they're proud of their children, who now have a chance to continue their football careers and education at highly respected institutions of higher learning.

"To see our kids come up and really compete in the same sport that we played and see them earn these opportunities, it’s exciting," Derrick Brooks, the 2002 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, said.

Like his Pro Football Hall of Fame father, Gaither linebacker Decalon Brooks is heading to Tallahassee to play at Florida State.

"Obviously with my dad’s legacy there, I’m just going there to put my name on things and just carry it on but also make a name for myself," Decalon Brooks said.

"I want his own footprints to be made in Tallahassee the way that Decalon wants to walk in them," Derrick Brooks said.  "I’m very proud of my son that he’s always been able to do that."

The Brooks family isn't the only one with ties to the Bucs to continue a family legacy at the next level.

Northside Christian quarterback Griffin Alstott made his own decision to play at his father’s alma mater.

The son of Bucs all-time touchdown leader Mike Alstott is going to Purdue, where Alstott starred from 1992 to 1994.

But Griffin doesn’t feel like he’s in his dad’s shadow.

"It helps that we play different positions," Griffin Alstott said.  "I’m a quarterback.  But he opened a lot of doors for me.  So it’s my job to walk through them and make a name for myself."

"It was my best choice that I made when I had my decision," Mike Alstott said of his own selection of Purdue.  "It’s beautiful, it’s cold, but it’s got all the amenities you want to enjoy your college experience."

Jesuit offensive lineman Jake Moore, who’s going to Dayton, was glad to have a parent who’d been through the process before helping him through the stressful process of the recruiting game.

Former Bucs tight end Dave Moore, who made the Pro Bowl as a long snapper in his final season, was there for his son when coaches came calling.

"It was good because he was able to see what coaches were genuine- what coaches wanted me to come," Jake Moore said.  "And he’s kind of helped me through the whole process."

"The whole group of us had kids all around the same time," Dave Moore said.  "So it’s exciting to see where they’re all going.  And now we all get to sit and stress for our kids in the stands."

And they’ll get to cheer for their sons as well.
