Jameis Winston will be sitting a little longer than expected.

The 2015 No. 1 overall draft pick will miss his third-straight game this Sunday at Atlanta with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter announced on Monday.

Winston hasn't played since late in the first half in a blowout loss at New Orleans in Week 9. He initially suffered the injury three weeks prior to that against Arizona.

“The medical staff evaluated Jameis sometime earlier today and they determined that he is not ready to resume throwing yet," Koetter said in a news conference. "Jameis will be out this week and re-evaluated next Monday.”

Since then, backup Ryan Fitzpatrick has led Tampa Bay to two wins over sub-.500 AFC East foes -- a 15-10 win at home over the New York Jets two weekends ago and a 30-20 victory at Miami this past Sunday.

Fitzpatrick leading to the Bucs to their first road win of 2017, along with their first winning streak of the season, has turned many heads.

"Ryan’s done exactly what I thought he would do, but I can understand why other people that haven’t seen him in practice would not necessarily expect that," Koetter said. "He’s playing how I thought he would play.”

Fitzpatrick's performance has led to questions about who will be the starting quarterback once Winston is healthy. Koetter weighed in on that topic, saying that it wasn't an option in his mind because the Florida State alumnus wasn't cleared by the doctors.

When asked if a starter can lose his job due to injury, Koetter answered, "No, not usually. [It’s] hard to do.”

Winston is also under investigation by the NFL surrounding an Uber driver in Arizona, who claims that the quarterback molested her during a ride back in March of 2016. Winston has denied the allegations.
