The #9 Lake Howell Silver Hawks used a 3-run first inning in Tuesday night's game against non-district opponent #10 Apopka, as they beat the Blue Darters 5-1 in a game that was shown live on Spectrum Sports.

Silver Hawks senior centerfielder Shanika Klett led the game off with a double and scored after an Apopka error, which gave Lake Howell the spark they needed to take control early against the Blue Darters. Klett, who is signed with Florida Southwestern State College, went 2-for-4 on the night.

Lake Howell senior rightfielder Lexi Thrasher was named the Spectrum Sports Player of the Game, after going 2-for-3 with a double, triple and an RBI. Thrasher will be playing for St. Petersburg College next season.

Silver Hawks sophomore pitcher Raechel Cutcher was tremendous in the circle, pitching a complete game with 6 strikeouts.

Apopka used pitchers Gabi Cirilo and Nyah Vogel in the loss.

Lake Howell improves to 7-4 on the season while Apopka drops to 7-3.
