Orlando Pride continues #FillTheBowl tradition for second NWSL campaign

Last Updated: Monday, March 20, 2017

Prior to Orlando City SC’s 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, all members of the 2017 Orlando Pride preseason roster took the pitch and were introduced to the crowd.  Led by goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris on the mic, the Pride announced that it would be keeping the Club’s #FillTheBowl tradition alive for the third straight year, rallying fans for the Pride’s first home game at Orlando City Stadium.

The campaign calls upon fans to break the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) single-game attendance record at the Pride first home match on April 22.

“We’re ready to kick off a new season in a beautiful new stadium and we need [the fans’] help,” Harris told the crowd.  “Let’s prove that this city, Orlando, is the best soccer city in this nation.”

Single-game tickets to the opener, as well as all 2017 regular-season home matches, are now on sale and can be purchased at orlando-pride.com/tickets or by calling (855) ORL-CITY.

The Pride currently hold the single-game record after a league-best attendance at the team’s first-ever home match in 2016. During Orlando’s inaugural season in the NWSL, supporters showed they were #FilledWithPride and broke the league’s single-game attendance record with 23,403 fans in the team’s first home match on April 23.

Now, almost a year to the day, the Pride will aim to break their own record in the 4 p.m. ET match at Orlando City Stadium, which has a capacity of 25,500.

#FillTheBowl was introduced in 2015 for Orlando City’s first season in Major League Soccer, calling upon fans to pack the then Orlando Citrus Bowl for the Lions’ first match. The fans came through, both in 2015 and in 2016 when they were asked to #FillTheBowlAgain, with over 60,000 at consecutive home openers.
