The top high school softball teams in Central Florida, as selected by the Spectrum Sports staff:
1. Timber Creek (7-1) – Wolves impressive early season resume includes victories against a pair of defending state champions – West Orange and Bartow.
2. West Orange (7-2) – Georgia signee Lauren Mathis earned her 50th career victory as a starting pitcher in Saturday’s complete game shutout of Orange Park Oakleaf.
3. St. Cloud (7-0) – Senior pitcher Skylar Whobrey has a miniscule 0.21 ERA and six RBI for the undefeated Bulldogs.
4. Rockledge (6-1) – Only loss for the Raiders came at the hands of Pennsylvania’s Donegal High.
5. Viera (7-0) – High scoring Hawks, who are averaging more than 12 runs per game, play at Eau Gallie (7-2) on Thursday.
6. Eustis (7-1) – Wins against Lake Minneola, Montverde Academy and East Ridge have positioned the Panthers as the top team in Lake County.
7. Spruce Creek (4-2) – Next two games for the Hawks are both in Seminole County – at Lake Mary on Thursday and at Winter Springs next Tuesday.
8. Deltona (6-0) – Wolves were fourth in Class 7A in the first Miracle Sports state softball rankings.
9. Orange City University (8-2) – Titans started the season with five straight wins and have since suffered losses to DeLand and Spruce Creek.
10. Hagerty (6-2) – Huskies are the only team this season to beat Timber Creek, but they’ve also lost to Orange City University and Seminole.
