The Orlando Pride remain winless on the season after losing to the North Carolina Courage 3-1 on Saturday.

The Pride fell to 0-2-1 while the defending NWSL Champion Courage stayed undefeated at 3-0-0.

Brazillian Camila scored the Pride's only goal on a strike in the 27th minute. It was her first career NWSL goal.

“It was a game of good things and bad things, but I think it was a fair result this evening. North Carolina is the most potent team in the league and coming to play here is not easy. They deserve credit for the team they have built,” Pride Head Coach Tom Sermanni said. “But we need to find ways to capitalize on the opportunities we are given. We are doing a lot of good things but small mistakes or mental lapses will cost us in the worst moments. We have the pieces on the roster to get the results, we just need to find a way to get all of the parts working effectively together at the same time.”

The Courage scored first when Jessica McDonald put home a rebound in the sixth minute. North Carolina forward Lynn Williams put a header on goal that goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris was able to stop, but McDonald was there to bury the loose ball to make it 1-0.

The lone Pride goal came when Camilla won a battle at midfield and then fired a shot past a diving Sabrina D’Angelo. It was the first goal allowed by the Courage this season.

Samantha Mewis later scored for the Courage on a planty kick after a Pride handball to break the tie. Williams also scored for North Carolina.

The Pride close out a two game road swing next weekend when they take on FC Kansas City on May 7 at 6 p.m.
