Calvary Christian remained undefeated and clinched the number-one seed in the upcoming 4A District 4 tournament, defeating Berkeley Prep 1-0 on Tuesday.

In a battle between two of the top left-handed pitchers in the state, Calvary Christian's Nolan Hudi (TCU commit) took center stage. The state's third-best sophomore lefty held Berkeley Prep to just one hit and struck out eight Buccaneers. The team's ERA this season now stands at a remarkable 0.49.

On the other side, Berkeley Prep's Julian Bosnic (Wake Forest commit) took the hard-luck loss. The state's fourth-best junior left-handed pitcher allowed only three hits and one earned run while striking out nine Warriors.

In the top of the fourth, the Warriors Division-I caliber players strung together just enough offense to score what would be the winning run.  Alabama-commit Eric Kennedy led off with a single and stole second base.  USF-signee Graham Hoffman walked to put two runners on base and Florida State-commit Matheu Nelson drove in his 24th run of the year with a single into left field to score Kennedy.

Berkeley Prep threatened in the bottom of the fourth, though.  A single from Gordon Stetson with two runners on nearly tied the game, but Carson Weekley was thrown out trying to score from second base.

Calvary Christian (14-0, 8-0 in 4A-4) continues a tough stretch later this week, traveling to 8A power Countryside. Berkeley Prep (8-9, 3-5 in 4A-4) will look to bounce back in another district battle on Thursday at Tampa Catholic.
