Historic Dodgertown has become Canterbury's home away from home.

Five trips to the Vero Beach site in the past six years, there's a familiarity for the Crusaders. There's also been disappointment the past two seasons as Canterbury was bounced in the state semifinal round by two-time defending champs Aucilla Christian.

Standing in the way of the Crusaders first trip to title game since 2014 when they defeated Aucilla 1-0 for their second-straight championship, Mount Dora Christian Academy in the Class 2A state semifinals.

Canterbury built an early lead and then held on when Mount Dora rallied in the bottom of the seventh for a 6-3 win. They will play Aucilla for the 2A title Thursday at 11 a.m. LIVE on Spectrum Sports HD 1147/Channel 47.

The Crusaders bats were hot early on. In the bottom of the first, University of Michigan-bound Taylor Bump's RBI double to center put her team on the board first. Next batter, Florida Gators commit Danielle Romanello added to the lead with a two-run homer to give Canterbury a 3-0 lead.

Canterbury added to their lead in the bottom of the third when Jocelyn Alonso drove home Bump with an RBI double.

After a one-and-a-half hour rain delay, Canterbury led 6-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh. Down to their final three outs, Mount Dora loaded the bases.

Emily Allen drove in two runs with a single to center. The Bulldogs tacked on another run, but the rally fell short.
