In terms of results the month of May hasn’t been too kind to Orlando City so far, they’re 0-2-2, leaving head coach Jason Kreis and the team in search of three points.

“We were just talking about before the session,” said Kreis. “It’s been 4 games without a win, so we’re very hungry for the next one.”

To get that next one on Sunday the Lions will have to take down New York City. The same club Orlando have already beaten twice this season, so familiarity is certainly there, but that won’t make the game any easier.

“It’s a challenge,” said midfielder Will Johnson. “Every time that you beat a team it’s harder to do it again and again. So this game will be harder than the first one, and then the second one was harder than the first one, so this will be harder than both of those games. We’re going to have to be perfect.”

“The momentum is definitely in our favor now that we’ve got the last two victories,” said defender Scott Sutter. “So we can definitely look to use that confidence, and we’re playing at home.”

Both teams played on Wednesday. New York City is coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Real Salt Lake, while Orlando tied 1-1 in their match with San Jose. Sunday’s game will mark the third match in 9 days for City, but coach Kreis thinks his team is more rested now than they were during their last 3 game stretch in quick succession.

“Some of that is credit to being able to rotate a large number of players,” said the head coach. “Having a lot of confidence in a lot of our players. As well as the fact that our ownership stepped forward and chartered us a flight home immediately after the game at San Jose. So I feel like because of that we were home yesterday morning, had a full day of rest and the guys looked pretty fresh today.”
