There’s a formula to Erica Stahl’s success.

The Lakeland Christian sophomore pitcher starts with a twist to the right, back to center, then, bam.

Stahl’s enjoyed success with the Vikings, playing a big role in their back-to-back state titles and their quest for a third. Lakeland Christian have become regulars at Historic Dodgertown, site of the high school state championships.

“Making it this far, it means so much to all of us,” Stahl said. “It just fuels us knowing that we’ve been here three times. That’s pretty much unheard of.

“So, it just helps us knowing we can definitely do this next year.”

“Their t-shirt this year is a catcher with three finger below it,” Vikings head coach Sue Wilson said. “They wore it here, excited for the three-peat, believing they could do it.”

The Vikings came close, but fell just short in their quest for a third-straight championship. Stahl said it will serve as motivation for the offseason and into next year.

“It just encourages me,” Stahl said. “All of our team is really young. We have no seniors, so it really makes us feel so good about the future.”
