The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Dan Girardi to a $6 million, two-year deal. The 33-year-old will count $3 million against the salary cap the next two seasons.

Girardi was bought out of the final three years of his contract by the New York Rangers in June.

Tampa Bay also announced the following signings on Saturday:

-Free agent left wing Chris Kunitz to a one-year contract worth $2 million. Kunitz has played in 161 NHL layoff games and won four Stanley Cups.

-Free agent defenseman Jamie McBain to a one-year, two-way contract. McBain has played in 348 career NHL games with the Arizona Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings, Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes.

-Goaltender Michael Leighton to a one-year, two-way contract. Leighton has played in 110 career NHL games, posting a record of 37-43-4 with 10 ties.

-Defenseman Oleg Sosunov to a three-year, entry-level contract. Sosunov was originally selected by the Lightning in the sixth round of the 2016 NHL Draft.

-Free agent left wing Alex Gallant to a one-year, two-way contract. Gallant has played in 56 career AHL games, all with San Jose during the previous two seasons.
