The first training session for Dom Dwyer with Orlando City ended thirty minutes earlier than expected, finishing their chances was the main focus of the day and that’s exactly what Dwyer was brought in to do, score goals.

“We hope that he’s going to change things on the field,” Orlando City head coach Jason Kreis said.  “And also bring a fresh energy to the guys that are here.”

“I hope and I believe that I bring a lot to the team to improve it,” Dwyer said at his introductory press conference on Wednesday. “The team has put a lot of faith in me, and their hard work I will repay.”

Orlando’s 22 goals this season are the third fewest in the MLS, and they’re only regressing in the final third, in their last five matches the Lions have scored just three goals.

The addition of Dwyer adds some extra wrinkles for head coach Jason Kreis as he tries to figure out his lineup. How does he decide to play Carlos Rivas, Cyle Larin and Dwyer.

“He’s a striker,” Kreis said. “So it’ll be one of the two places up top if we play with two strikers, we may play with three. If we play with one high striker he’d be considered for that role."

"What it’s really done is brought another headache to the coaching staff, which is honestly what we need right now.”

Dom Dwyer will play on Saturday against Atlanta United, whether or not he will start is something coach Kreis said he’s taking under consideration.
