He's leaving on a jet plane. Well, not until next summer.

Hillsborough High three-star cornerback Ken Montgomery chose UCLA over USF, Alabama, Penn State and Ohio State on Spectrum Sports on Thursday evening.

"This is a great choice for me," said the newest Bruin. "It's L.A. How can I not be excited?"

Montgomery will visit the campus for the first time this school year when he is allowed to take official visits, per NCAA rules. But there was no doubt for Montgomery that UCLA was the right fit. And it was the right time to announce, considering the focus will now shift to his senior season with the Terriers, who are coming off an 8-2 season that saw them return to the playoffs.

"We have a tough schedule but we are Big Red," smiled Montgomery. "We do not back down from anyone."

Montgomery was actually on the USF campus this past Monday after informing Spectrum Sports that he had added the Bulls to his final list. His relationship with USF assistant Shaun King made it evident that Montgomery thought about staying home.

However, Montgomery informed his family early in the week that he was headed out to California.

Montgomery joins the 15th-best recruiting class for 2018, according to 24/7 Sports. UCLA also ranks third among all PAC-12 recruiting classes, only behind Oregon (8th overall) and USC (13th overall).
