Are you ready for some football? USF football fans sure are. On Saturday, they got a taste of the upcoming season and saw the team take the field at an open practice.

  • USF's home opener is Sept. 2
  • Fans met players, coaches on Saturday
  • Expectations high with new coach Charlie Strong

"We've been waiting since last season ended for this, so hopefully everyone's talking an undefeated season," fan Jason Shirley said.

Dozens of fans dressed in green and gold took to USF's campus for the open practice. The excitement is bigger than ever with the addition of head coach Charlie Strong.

"I think everyone's just excited to have someone with that much experience," fan Justin Gabbard said.

Fans hope Strong can lead the team to an undefeated season and an even bigger bowl game. They're also looking forward to seeing what quarterback Quinton Flowers can do this year after being named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

"I think he's going to win the Heisman," Gabbard said.

The team is also showcasing some new talent this year. Kelvin Pinkney Sr. came out to see his son play his first year of USF football.

"I'm feeling great. I think he's going to be a good defensive tackle for them. All he has to do is do what he's been taught to do, do it aggressively and he'll be all right," Pinkney Sr. said.

There's a lot of faith from these dedicated fans who said they'll support the Bulls no matter what. With high hopes and hard work, fans said the team can't lose.

"There's a lot of talent so hopefully everyone continues to build, the defense can improve and we'll kind of see where it goes. But high expectations for sure," Gabbard said.

After practice, fans got to see all the new fan gear, meet, and take pictures with players and Strong. The team's first home game is on Sept. 2.
