Frank Viola, Baseball Expert

Frank Viola contributes as a baseball analyst for Bright House Sports Network. He can be seen giving his take on the Tampa Bay Rays, along with serving as an analyst for select high school, UCF and Florida State League baseball broadcasts.

He is a former starting pitcher who played for the Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds and Toronto Blue Jays.

The largest portion of Frank’s career came in Minnesota, where he picked up 112 of his 176 career wins. His overall career stats are impressive--a 3.73 ERA, 176-150 record, 74 complete games and 16 shutouts in 421 games. His most impressive career achievement is his Cy Young Award in 1988, when he won a career high 24 games.

In 1989, two years after Viola led the Twins to a World Series in 1987--when he was named the Series MVP--he was traded to the Mets, where he had a great 1990 season, finishing third in the Cy Young voting.

Frank signed with the Red Sox in 1992 before finishing his career in Toronto in 1996. He finished his career with 1844 strikeouts.
