Ybeth Bruzual, Anchor

This Venezuelan-Puerto Rican journalist has lived in Central Florida since 1981 and considers this area home. Ybeth Bruzual enjoys anchoring on Spectrum News 13. She also hosts "Political Connections" every Sunday at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.

She is fascinated by politics. So much so, that she’s earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Politics from the University of Central Florida. She puts that knowledge to good use in her job at News 13.

Ybeth bleeds black and gold, and is a proud member of the UCF Alumni Association. You often see her cheering on the stands, rooting on her Knights at basketball games and at football games at Spectrum stadium.  She also earned an A.A. degree from Valencia College where she served as a writer and circulation manager in the 1990's on the school's newspaper, The Valencia Voice.

She calls herself an “endless prisoner of hope,” and demonstrates that by her many community activities. She is a past board member for both Shepherd’s Hope Clinic and Central Florida Chapter Board for Lighthouse of Central Florida, offering service to the blind, and a former mentor for the Compact Program for Orange County Public Schools.

Ybeth is past president for the Central Florida chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), and is a proud lifetime member of that organization. She is a three-time EMMY nominee and won an EMMY in 2016 for the Pulse Vigil live coverage in lake Eola.  Bruzual was honored with the UCF Dept. of Political Science outstanding Alumni Award in 2015 for her political coverage.

Ybeth and her tall husband, Alfredo (he’s 6’7”), have a young son who loves science.
