A motorcyclist is dead after a hit-and-run crash involving three other vehicles, according to the Tampa Police Department.

The crash happened early Saturday along the Courtney Campbell Causeway.  

The motorcyclist, whose identity has not yet been released, was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed, police said.

The motorcycle struck the back of a pickup truck that was making a U-turn at a traffic light. The man was thrown from the motorcyle and landed in the roadway.

While lying in the road, the man was struck by two other vehicles. One of the vehicles remained at the scene, while the other fled. A description of the driver or vehicle that drove off has not been released.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were immediately available.
