A woman was killed and a man injured after a vehicle hit a tree in Lake County Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

- Driver lost control, hitting a guardrail and a tree
- Passenger died at the scene
The crash happened at County Road 468 and Jones Drive, near Leesburg just after 9 p.m.
According to troopers, Colton Craine, 23, of Wildwood, was driving southbound on CR 468 when he lost control. The vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes before hitting a guardrail and a tree.
The passenger, Megan Wisdom, 21, of Leesburg, died at the scene.
Craine was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition, troopers said.
Investigators are trying to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Charges are pending, FHP said.
