A popular boat ramp in Lake County will be closed in a few months, with no other ramp opening in the area anytime soon.

Local residents say the Clermont boat ramp on West Minneola Avenue can get full with about 100 boats here every weekend.
Kim Cashmer and Chris Davis live on the lake, and use the ramp a few times a year.
"Most people are used to having a boat ramp on Lake Minneola," said Cashmer.
But Clermont city officials said this boat ramp is closing Dec. 17, to be replaced by Victory Pointe, a 10-acre project that includes a stormwater facility, triathalon beach, and a park.
The ramp was to be relocated to Lake Hiawatha Park, but when residents spoke out, the city council eventually voted against the move.
"There’s actually a resident who lives 40 feet from the proposed boat ramp, and noise level for that would be extreme," said Davis.
City officials said they're working with the county and the water authority to find a new site for the boat ramp. There's no specific timeline, however, and it could take more than a year to open a ramp once a new site is chosen.
"It's going to be a big concern unless the city quickly does something and finds a solution," said Davis.
