The crash happened around noon in the Yeehaw Junction area of Florida's Turnpike.

Troopers say 44-year-old Rafael Contreras tried to change lanes in his semi and crashed into a car.

The two vehicles slid into the center median guard rail and burst into flames.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers says Contreras and the other driver, John Sears, escaped, but Sears' passenger, Gerard Hall was killed.

The crash is still under investigation.

The Turnpike was shut down for hours, and traffic was diverted off the highway at US 192.
