The man behind SpaceX, Tesla and Paypal is turning his attention to semi-trucks. Elon Musk just unveiled his plans for an all-electric semi-tractor trailer and social media is a buzz.

  • Semi can go from 0 to 60 mph in 20 seconds
  • It will also have autopilot features as well
  • Elon Musk also shows off new Roadster

It all started Sunday, when Musk promised an announcement that "will blow your mind clear out of your skull and into an alternate dimension."

He made his grand entrance Thursday night in the Telsa Semi, which is the name of the new electric tractor trailers.

Telsa’s website states the semi can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 20 seconds and it will have autopilot features.

And it will provide more than $200,000 in fuel savings.

Musk also debuted an all-new version of its Roadster sports car that can go from zero to 60 miles an hour in 1.9 seconds, which would make it the fastest-accelerating production car ever.

The new projects could provide a boost to Telsa, which has had a bit of bad news recently after it experienced a record loss in the third quarter and way behind on production on its new lower-cost Model 3 sedan.

You can already reserve one on Telsa’s website, but you just have to put down $5,000 for the semi.

No word on what the total figure will be or when it would appear on Interstate 4.
