The Flagler County Sheriff's Office has identified a suspect in the Interstate 95 hit-and-run that sent a deputy to the hospital last week.

Deputies say James Rex Voorhees, 74, of South Carolina, fled the scene of a previous crash at State Road 100 and I-95, according to a news release.

Voorhees reportedly drove away in a white Buick Rendezvous from the scene of the initial crash, when Flagler Deputy Bret Wood tried to pursue him. He suddenly hit the brakes, causing Wood to do the same, and Wood lost control of his motorcycle and fell, deputies said. Voorhees then drove off, they said.

Voorhees is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and knowingly driving with a suspended license.

Wood was hospitalized with injuries but was expected to be OK.

Beauford County Sheriff’s Office, the county where Voorhees reportedly lives, is cooperating with the Flagler Sheriff's Office to help track down Voorhees.

Anyone with information about Voorhees' location is encouraged to call FCSO at 386-313-4911 with reference case number 17-102609, or Crimestoppers at 1-888-477-TIPS (8477). There is currently a $1,000 reward.
