One man died after being shot five times in DeLand on Wednesday night.

The shooting happened on West Haven Road and South Florida Avenue. The victim was left lying in the intersection after being shot, Volusia County Sheriff Michael Chitwood said.
He was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he was prounounced dead.
Volusia County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident shortly before 9 p.m.
According to Chitwood, the county has had problems on this block before, having frequently served search warrants and drug arrests.
VCSO will continue to investigate the shooting. The victim has not yet been identified.
"What we have right now is we tentatively know who he is, we tentatively know his background, and the question is, what happened when he was walking down the street that he would be shot five times," Chitwood said at the scene Wednesday night.
