Police at the University of Central Florida say someone called threatening the campus.

  • UCFPD investigating threatening call
  • Authorities say suspect sounded like they were under the influence
  • Police don't believe there is any imminent danger to campus

UCFPD said at a press conference that they received a call on Tuesday around 5 p.m. from a man claiming to be on campus with weapons.

Officers searched the UCF campus for suspicious activity, while investigators tried to stay in contact with the caller, who they said sounded like he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Police took the threat seriously and said they will continue to investigate the call, but don't believe there's any imminent danger to the campus.

They also said they would maintain a heavy presence on campus overnight and over the next several days.

They asked students, faculty and staff to stay alert and report any suspicious activity by calling 911.

UCF police say this incident is not related to another case that happened on campus Tuesday, where a student was found dead in her dorm room.
