New video just released by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement of a fatal SunRail crash last week shows a new perspective from the tracks.

The train crash killed 40-year-old Stephen Chambers of Georgia, who was the driver of a tractor-trailer that had stopped on the tracks Thursday as it backed into a loading dock at a business to unload fencing materials.

In the video released Tuesday, the semi is seen sitting perpendicular across the SunRail tracks, with the front of the trailer in the direct path of the train. The driver is seen opening the driver's side door moments before the crash.

The semi was destroyed, and the front end of the train was also damaged.

Transportation officials said the northbound SunRail train, which was carrying 38 people, would have been traveling about 60 mph near Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Plumosa Avenue in Altamonte Springs at the time of the crash.

No one on the train was hurt.

FDOT is now looking for ways to improve SunRail safety.
