Florida Fish and Wildlife officials have scaled back their search for the deadly cobra that’s on the loose in Ocala.

The 2-foot-long monocled cobra escaped from an enclosure at home in the 900 block of Northeast 9th Street on March 13. It hasn’t been seen since.

Wildlife officials said it possible that the cobra is still somewhere inside the home.

The cobra is highly venomous and could strike if it feels threatened. It has distinctive multi-colored markings.

FWC said it will conduct periodic checks with the owner who has a venomous reptile permit.

If you see the snake, officials urge you to keep a safe distance and call FWC’s wildlife alert hotline at 1-888-404-3922.
