A large alligator was caught at Silver Glen Springs Recreation Area, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.

The gator, believed to be 13 feet long, was spotted in a designated swimming zone at the spring.

Deputy David Christmas responded to the area along North Highway 19 and, along with a few trappers, brought the gator to shore.

The Sheriff's Office posted pictures of the capture on its official Facebook page.

The swimming area was closed until the gator was removed.
