A food company is recalling its frozen hash browns due to possible golf ball contamination.

McCain Foods USA issued a voluntary recall after it said potatoes may contain "extraneous golf ball materials" in them.

The company said the golf ball materials may "have been inadvertently harvested" with the potatoes used to make the hash browns.

The recall affects 2-pound bags of Harris Teeter Brand Frozen Southern Style Hash Browns and Roundy's Brand Frozen Southern Style Hash Browns.

The Harris Teeter products were sold in Florida, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina. The Roundy products were distributed at Marianos, Metro Market and Pick 'n Save stores in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Affected producers were manufactured on Jan. 19 and have a production code of B170119 on the back of the packaging. Other products are not part of the recall.

No injuries have been reported related to the possible contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.
