One person was injured in a shooting at an Ocala hospital Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.

The shooting happened inside West Marion Community Hospital.

Prior to the shooting, Florida Highway Patrol says troopers came into contact with a man walking near mile marker 341 on Interstate 75. The man requested to be taken to a hospital, telling troopers he was ill.

The man was taken to West Marion Community Hospital by ambulance.

After receiving medical treatment, the troopers attempted to take the man into custody for failure to obey a lawful order. A struggle ensued and the man discharged trooper's gun.

A nurse was shot in the leg. She is currently in stable condition.

Officials said the was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.

The hospital was briefly placed on lockdown, but that has since been lifted.
